There are many attractions in the locality which can be reached on foot including the steamers covering the length of Windermere, the Aquarium of Lake, the Lakeside-Haverthwaite steam train, The Motor Museum, Brockhole House and gardens, and Wray castle. Within the town are the famous Beatrix Potter exhibition and the Old Laundry Theatre, as well as many pubs and shops.

Transport
There is a good local bus service to Ambleside, Grange and Grasmere which includes many more attractions, as well as a second bus link from Windermere station which extends the coverage to Keswick in the north of the Lakes, Kendal which is the nearest market town, and the historic town of Lancaster to the south.
Windermere rail station has a regular service to Oxenholme on the west coast main line, with onward links to London (Euston), Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
